چکیده

Our aim is to present the role of contrastenhanced CT in the early diagnosis of superior mesenteric artery (SMA) thromboembolism and to report our experience in the fibrinolytic therapy of this disorder using modified Sullivan technique. Contrast-enhanced helical CT clearly demonstrated the various findings of SMA thromboembolism in all 3 cases. In the first 2 patients, the modified Sullivan method of transthrombus high dose bolus technique followed by pump infusion of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (r-TPA) was used. In the third case, only pump infusion of r-TPA was done. Fibrinolytic therapy was successful in the first 2 patients but failed in the third. In our limited experience, contrast-enhanced CT was helpful in the early diagnosis of SMA thromboembolism and the intrathrombus high dose bolus technique using rTPA appeared to accelerate clot lysis.

A Rare Presentation of Arterial Thrombosis after Venous Thrombosis in a Patient with Gastric Cancer

Background: Venous thromboembolism, which comprises deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism and is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among patients with cancer. The aim of the present study was to report a rare presentation of arterial thrombosis after venous thrombosis in a patient with gastric cancer. Report of the Case: A 45 year-old female patient with locally advanced gas...

Microsnare-assisted mechanical removal of intraprocedural distal middle cerebral arterial thromboembolism.

Thromboembolic events are potential complications of neurointerventional procedures. The mainstay of therapy for these complications is both supportive therapy and the use of fibrinolytic agents. In some cases, the occluding clot seems to be resistant to fibrinolytic or anti-platelet agents. We herein report our successful attempt at clot removal by using a microsnare to mechanically capture an...

Recurrent Venous Thromboembolism as the Initial Clinical Presentation of Gastric Cancer: A Case Report

Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a clinically critical disease, misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis of which can lead to increased rate of mortality. For prevention of recurrence of PTE, recognition of its risk factors or underlying diseases is of great importance. PTE is common in patients with cancer and has high morbidity and mortality rates. Although cancer is a lethal condition, PTE accele...

Local intra-arterial fibrinolysis of thromboemboli occurring during neuroendovascular procedures with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE There is a lack of systematic data regarding local intra-arterial fibrinolysis (LIF) of thromboemboli occurring during neuroendovascular procedures with the use of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA). We report our technique for treating LIF of intracerebral thromboemboli occurring during neuroendovascular procedures. METHODS Nine of 723 patients (1.2%) who ...
